The Sentencing Guidelines Commission (SGC) is seeking applications for the part-time, temporary position of Office Assistant 1. This position will have a limit of 430 hours, and 5 months. The position may be extended if needed.
Location: 4565 - 7th Avenue, Lacey WA
Starting Salary: $10.62 hour plus statutory benefits.

About SGC
The Sentencing Guidelines Commission is a Washington State agency established by the Legislature with the responsibility of monitoring and evaluating sentencing standards for adult and juvenile offenders. Specifically, the Commission serves as a clearinghouse and information center for the collection, preparation, analysis and dissemination of information on state and local adult and juvenile sentencing practices.
Pursuant to its statutory mandate, the Commission maintains an extensive computerized database on sentencing in all areas of the state and, in addition to responding to data requests, publishes the following publications: an annual report on sentencing practices of individual judges; biennial reports on racial disproportionality in juvenile and adult sentencing; capacity of correctional facilities, and use of resources; an evaluation of juvenile dispositions standards; a report on recidivism of adult and juvenile offenders; a statistical summary of sentencing practices; and annual sentencing manuals for use by the courts, legislators, county prosecutors, defense counsel and interested members of the general public.

Description of work
Collect data from multiple sources to convert to PDF format and save in SGC records. Code and scan records, burning them to DVD/CD format.
Organize and date stamp mailed judgment and sentence records.
Other assignments as needed.
Knowledge and Abilities
Required:
Familiarity with Windows and Excel;
At least two year’s experience working with computers;
Full-hand typing style with a minimum speed of 30 Words Per Minute.
Able to work in accurate fashion, with good punctuation and consistency.
Desirable Qualifications
This position will be supervised by senior data compilers and the Database Program Manager. SGC is looking for someone who can keep incoming mail organized and processed daily, while competently using the computer to complete other data tasks.
This work can be done at different times of the day, through agreements with the Database Program Manager.
